The Inchoate Poet
 

This poem was written while helping a friend with her GRE exam. She always had the upper hand with big words till I managed to write this one, with a bit of help from Mr. Webster. :-) 

Let me right at the beginning annunciate
that this little rhyme is to ameliorate
my vocabulary, and try to make me more articulate
hence it might tend to annulate
and from stupid to extremely stupid alternate
I hope this doesn't, my readers alienate
or make of me an apostate.

Some of my readers I can never sate
and I never like to palliate
so those who're finding this abominate
and won't to it acclimate
I'd better from my readership ablate
(a word pretty similar to amputate)
before they get too animate
and with me start to altercate.

Those of you who can my madness accommodate
I must tell you how much I appreciate
Of course for this, to find words appropriate
my vocabulary I'd still have to alleviate.
While I'm still trying to assimilate
can I a simple 'thanks' aspirate
or should I wait, till I become au fait
and then send my thanks antedate?
